How're your gears doin'?

Hey there. Long time no see.

These gears have been through a bit of wear and tear these past few weeks, but they're surviving.

Quote by samu02Hi, Mr. Atheist... Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and let me understand your point of view... It is greatly appreciated...

Sure.

I see what you're saying, but I didn't exactly hate the religion, more like I lamented those who follow it so blindly. Never once in my life did I ever think I would stop believing in God, even if I found the Bible and the church to be a bit misguided. Until I heard "Letting Go of God", some audio thing by Julia Sweeney. To me, it basically disproved the entire concept of the God of the Bible, and the Bible itself. And as for the questions, I continue to ask them, and they have yet to be answered.

But thank you for the welcome, as well as the intelligent response to what I said, which is a bit of a rarity on the internet. :)

Oh btw, would you happen to know why a wallpaper of mine might have been deleted by "botchii"? When I clicked on that user's page it said it doesn't exist. I'm just a bit confused becuase it wasn't offensive at all, and I didn't get any explanation or anything.

Ah, nvm the last question, I figured it out. ^_^'

And another note on the God subject, I am still looking for answers. Believe me, I don't want to believe that when I die I'm dead for good, lol.

Quote by samu021. Why ARE you an atheist? 2. I mean, weren't you exposed in any religion whatsoever since you were a baby? 3. Or is it you saw the stuff that fanaticism to religion can do and it turned you off to the whole religion thing, as it were? 4. Don't you believe in God anymore, even for just a little bit? 5. How's being an atheist working out for you? 6. Are the atheist people any different in living their lives compared to the people who truly, honestly believe the teachings of their God, and live by it? 7. Have you actually met such Godly people? 8. Is being an atheist what you actually expected it to be? 9. What do you believe in now?

Wow! Many questions, not that I mind. Okay, first one.
1. I'm an Atheist because religious doctrine relies on blind faith rather than reason.
2. I was raised Catholic, yes, but I left that at around the age of 15.
3. It wasn't fanaticism that turned me off, it was just that holy texts are not infallible, they don't justify their purpose and they provide no evidence.
4. No, I've lost all faith in the Judeo-Christian-Islam concept of God or in any and all gods and godesses of any world religion.
5. Well, it has opened my eyes to what really matters in life which is the people around me, not any deity I'm supposed to meet after death.
6. Well, the answer to that would vary from person to person but I would say that there really is no difference except that Atheists don't go to any church or religious establishment.
7. I've met religious people and their lives aren't very different than my own. Only difference is they go to church and I don't.
8. No, I thought it would be terrible. When I was Catholic, I hated Atheists and now I find myself as an Atheist and I think it's great.
9. I believe in man's ability to do good and don't rely on miracles for good deeds. The only time man has made life better for itself was when man worked towards it. Good things come from hard work, not deities.

.. ^_^' Uuumm.... Yeah.... Right... Okay.... So..... Do I know you...? Sorry to ask...

"Sentenced Moon-child" is the native american name I made up for you. If you want super model or sacred monarch, then okay. Lol.

Quote by samu02How is it that when one of these kind of threads open, it leads to debate? People here, theists and atheists alike, are too darn competitive for anyone's benefit. It is not so much as defending their beliefs as satisfying their egos...

Now, on to the question, how should religion be measured?

Well, I guess its how much the people believing in that religion gets out of it spiritually. If it changes them into a better person, changes the way they live, and how they view life and death. If it makes them more tolerable of other people and their beliefs, *ehem ehem* I guess that should be a good standard for a religion. Oh, and that they are so satisfied with it that they would love the people they care about to share in it. Normally, if it makes a good person out of a sinful one, it is a good religion...

Wait, is this one of those "My religion is better than yours!" topics, coz that would really suck! One of the dumbest and a complete-waste-of-life arguments are made with that topic.

Hey Darkingram, one question. What exactly are you doing about the sinners? Have you told them of God's love and called them to God? Okay, so that was two questions... pm me, k... Thanks much

Filipino ka rin pala.. :) nakakapagod ng magpaliwanag sa mga ateyista rito, masyadong maurirat. >_<
